1. Introduction
Welcome to PITIA.
PITIA is an online marketplace operated by Microlaptops Company Limited, a company based in Tanzania.
Our platform connects people planning to travel with people looking for someone traveling along a similar route. Our initial marketplace serves connections involving Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates and China.
We respect the privacy of our users and are committed to collecting, processing, storing and protecting personal information in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
This Privacy Policy explains how PITIA handles personal information when you visit our website, verify your phone number, browse or publish listings, purchase access passes, contact other users or use our messaging services.
This policy applies to visitors, phone-verified guests, registered users, travelers and other users of https://pitia.online.
2. Data Controller
PITIA is operated by:
Microlaptops Company Limited
Website: https://pitia.online
Privacy and legal inquiries: zaburi@microlaptops.co.tz
Microlaptops Company Limited is responsible for determining the purposes and means of processing personal information collected through PITIA where it acts as the data controller.
You may contact us regarding the collection, correction, access, deletion or use of your personal information.
3. Information We Collect
We collect information reasonably necessary to operate and protect our marketplace.
3.1 Phone verification information
When you access features requiring verification, we may collect your phone number and associated verification records.
We use Briq to send one-time verification codes.
This information helps us confirm control of a phone number, maintain user access, recover sessions and reduce fraudulent activity.
Phone verification does not necessarily establish a person's legal identity or trustworthiness.
3.2 User and guest information
Creating a traditional account is optional.
PITIA may create a guest identity when you verify your phone number.
We may store your internal user identifier, display name, verified phone number, session information, associated listings, access passes, messages and connection records.
Session-token information is stored using appropriate protective measures, including hashing where implemented.
3.3 Travel listing information
When you publish a trip, PITIA may collect your departure location, destination, travel date, self-reported available capacity, description and relevant listing preferences.
Published trip details may be visible to other users and visitors.
Travelers may optionally upload a ticket for private PITIA staff review. Tickets may contain names, booking references or other travel details, so travelers should cover information not needed for review. Ticket files are not displayed publicly. A staff review does not establish airline validity or guarantee a traveler's identity.
Travelers are responsible for ensuring the information they submit is accurate and does not disclose unnecessary sensitive personal information.
3.4 Messaging information
When users communicate through PITIA's in-app messaging system, we may store message content, conversation participants, timestamps, delivery status and relevant moderation information.
Messages are not publicly displayed.
Authorized PITIA personnel may access information when reasonably necessary to investigate reports, provide support, protect users, maintain platform security or comply with lawful requests.
PITIA does not claim that in-app messages are end-to-end encrypted unless that feature has actually been implemented.
3.5 WhatsApp contact information
Travelers may optionally enable sharing of their WhatsApp contact number with eligible users.
WhatsApp numbers are not publicly displayed simply because a person publishes a trip.
When sharing is enabled, an authorized user may unlock access to the contact number according to the applicable platform rules.
Once another user receives a WhatsApp number, that person may save or use it outside PITIA. Disabling future sharing cannot revoke copies already received.
PITIA does not access or read conversations conducted directly between users on WhatsApp.
WhatsApp processes information under its own privacy policy and terms.
3.6 Payment information
When users purchase access passes or other paid platform features, we may collect transaction references, amounts, payment status, purchased products, timestamps and related accounting records.
We use your verified phone number for mobile-money checkout. You may optionally provide an email address for payment updates; if provided, we share it with Snippe for that checkout. An email address is not required for a PITIA account or phone-only checkout.
Payments are processed by authorized payment service providers.
PITIA does not need to store complete payment-card credentials in its application database.
Payment providers may process information under their own legal obligations and privacy terms.
3.7 Technical and security information
We may collect technical information including IP addresses, device and browser details, session identifiers, access logs, security events and error information.
We use this information to maintain website functionality, detect suspicious activity and improve service reliability.
PITIA does not require continuous device-location tracking to browse public listings.

Where a specific activity requires consent, PITIA will request it appropriately.
Users may withdraw consent for consent-based processing, subject to applicable legal obligations and the limitations of disclosures already completed.
Agreeing to the platform's Terms does not automatically constitute consent to all optional data-processing activities.
6. Public and Private Information
Information appearing in public travel listings may include display names, routes, dates, descriptions and self-reported capacity.
Private information includes undisclosed phone numbers, in-app conversations, payment records, session credentials and other information not intended for public display.
We use access controls to restrict private information to authorized persons and systems.
Users should avoid entering passwords, financial credentials, passport numbers or sensitive identification information into public listings.

8. International Data Transfers
PITIA operates across international travel corridors, and some infrastructure providers may process information outside Tanzania.
The currently selected Neon production database is hosted in the United States.
Hosting, security, authentication and payment providers may also process information in other jurisdictions, depending on their configuration and operations.
Microlaptops Company Limited is responsible for assessing applicable requirements concerning international transfers of personal information.
PITIA will implement required safeguards, contractual arrangements, regulatory permissions and consent mechanisms where applicable before undertaking transfers that require them.
We do not represent that agreeing to the PITIA Terms automatically replaces a cross-border data-transfer permit required by law.
For questions concerning international data processing, contact zaburi@microlaptops.co.tz.
9. Cookies and Browser Storage
PITIA uses essential cookies or equivalent browser storage to maintain sessions, support authentication, protect the platform and remember essential preferences.
These technologies may also record acknowledgement of the cookie notice.
Optional analytics or advertising cookies are not enabled by default.
If PITIA introduces nonessential tracking technologies, users will receive applicable information and choices.
Users can manage browser cookies through their device or browser settings, although disabling necessary cookies may affect certain functionality.
10. Security
PITIA implements reasonable technical and organizational security measures appropriate to its operations.
Measures may include encrypted connections, protected database access, secure authentication, restricted administrator permissions, server-side payment verification, security monitoring and access logging.
Access to personal information is restricted according to operational needs.
No internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
If a data security incident occurs, PITIA will investigate and comply with applicable notification and remediation obligations.
11. Information Retention
PITIA retains personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide its services, maintain security, resolve disputes and comply with applicable legal requirements.
Different categories of information may have different retention periods.
For example, verification records may be kept for a shorter period than transaction records, while messages may be retained while conversations remain active and for a defined period afterward.
Expired listings may be removed from public search while certain records remain temporarily available for safety, dispute resolution or legal purposes.
Payment and accounting records may be retained for applicable statutory periods.
Where information is no longer required, PITIA will delete or anonymize it according to its implemented retention procedures.
A detailed retention schedule will be maintained and published or made available as appropriate.

Subject to applicable law, users may have rights to:

- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of eligible information.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.

- Request eligible information in a portable form.
- Object to unauthorized marketing.
- Make complaints to the relevant regulatory authority.
To exercise these rights, contact:
[zaburi@microlaptops.co.tz](mailto\:zaburi@microlaptops.co.tz)
PITIA may request reasonable identity verification before processing sensitive privacy requests.
We will respond within applicable legal time limits.
13. Deleting Your Information
Users may request deletion of their PITIA identity and eligible associated information.
Deletion may affect access to saved trips, conversations, previously unlocked contacts and unused platform benefits.
Some information may need to be retained where required by law, for financial records, unresolved disputes, security investigations or legitimate legal claims.
Information already shared with other users or external services cannot always be retrieved or deleted by PITIA.
14. Fraud Prevention and Moderation
PITIA may use relevant information to investigate suspicious listings, impersonation, harassment, scams, payment abuse, prohibited goods and other violations of platform rules.
We may remove listings, restrict access, suspend users or preserve appropriate evidence when justified.
Where required, PITIA may cooperate with lawful requests from competent authorities.
Phone verification is not a guarantee of identity, honesty, legal transport authorization or successful shipment delivery.
15. User-to-User Arrangements
PITIA provides digital tools for users to discover and communicate with one another.
Transportation arrangements, item acceptance, payment for transportation and handover agreements are independently negotiated between users.
PITIA does not ordinarily participate as the carrier or guarantor of those arrangements.
This operational distinction does not eliminate PITIA's legal responsibilities concerning its own marketplace services, personal-data processing, security or unlawful conduct.
16. External Services
PITIA may allow users to open WhatsApp or other third-party websites and applications.
When users move to another platform, the external provider's applicable terms and privacy policy govern its independent processing.
PITIA cannot control messages or information voluntarily exchanged outside its service.
17. Children's Privacy
PITIA is intended for adults aged 18 and above.
We do not knowingly provide account-based or paid marketplace services to children under 18.
If we discover that a child has submitted personal information contrary to our eligibility rules, we will take appropriate measures in accordance with applicable law.
18. Changes to This Privacy Policy
Microlaptops Company Limited may update this Privacy Policy to reflect new features, service providers, security practices, legal requirements or operational changes.
The updated policy will be published at:
Where legally required, PITIA will provide additional notice or request renewed consent.
Continued use alone will not be treated as a substitute for consent where specific consent is legally required.
19. Complaints and Regulatory Rights
Users may contact PITIA regarding privacy concerns, unauthorized access, misuse of personal information or suspected data security incidents.
We encourage users to contact us first so we can investigate the matter promptly.
Users may also exercise any available right to submit complaints to Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Commission or another competent authority.
Nothing in this Privacy Policy limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived.
